Horseback Riding Fun

Last week my hubby and I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary. We didn't really get a chance to do anything special. It was on a Wednesday this year, and with our crazy schedules neither of us were actually home until 9:00 that night.
But none the less, we made plans.
My sweet father-in-law offered to watch the kids for us. And by that, I mean we took them to the farm for the weekend so we could go on a date!

And boy oh boy do those kids love grandpa.

I had the chance to take a bunch of photos when we went to pick them up Sunday afternoon. I'm guessing you already know what they wanted to do when we got there huh??

 Yup. Horseback riding.

I'm going to apologize ahead of time for all the pictures, I just took so many I couldn't decide which ones to use. And these are still just a small fraction!

Steven jumped right in to help. It's just like when he was younger. Except from what I've been told, they didn't always ride their horses for fun on the farm. It was more of a business thing (boarding, breeding, and training). But I do love that he did that as a kid, what a great experience!

these foals were born this past spring

above is Equifire,
and below is Somerset

Eleanor is cleaning up Scarlet to ride.
Grandpa says you can't ride the horse without taking the proper steps to get her ready. Eleanor brushed her coat and mane, they cleaned her hooves, and saddled her up!

She couldn't wait to get on

but she had to be patient.

So excited!

I think she may have had 2 or 3 turns, and it was well worth the wait. We can't wait to get back again on Thursday:)

Even little Peytie got to have a go at it...

Love that little smile of his.

And these kids love their grandpa!

Happy Thanksgiving!
XOXO
